HUDSON — The Watauga Wolverines took a 38-12 victory over Hudson in middle school football Wednesday.
Evan Suggs scored four touchdowns — two in each half — to pace the Wolverines (3-1). Joey Watson added a first-half touchdown that helped the Wolverines take a 24-6 halftime lead.
Watauga was also able to score four two-point conversions. Case Taylor scored two of them by running the ball into the end zone, while Corey West found Justin Hollars for two other two-point conversions with passes.
Watauga’s defense also came through with a fumble recovery by Adam Trivette. The Wolverines, with the exception of a few breakdowns, were able to keep Hudson’s wing-T offense in check for most of the game.
“They run a wing-T and it’s a tricky offense,” Wolverines coach Steve Breitenstein said. “It was a tough one to deal with, but we seemed to handle it well.”
In the fifth-quarter part of the game, where non-starters get a chance to play, Austin McConnel scored on a 60-yard run. Elijah Pitts added a sack and also recovered a fumble on defense.
Watauga is on the road again next week at Granite Falls.
