Wolverines close out season with victory

The Watauga Wolverines closed out its regular season with a 34-22 victory over East McDowell.
Watauga finishes the season with a 4-4 record. The Wolverines also ended a three-game losing streak. Joey Watson scored a pair of touchdown runs to lead the Watauga offense. It took defense and special teams to spark the Pioneers in the beginning.
Watauga trailed 14-0, but a Case Taylor punt pinned East McDowell inside its 5-yard line. Evan Suggs forced a safety. Corey West returned the East McDowell’s ensuing free kick for a touchdown to pull Watauga to 14-9.
Suggs also scored on a 55-yard touchdown run, while West tossed a two-point conversion to Justin Hollars. Taylor also had a two-point conversion run.
