Watauga girls' track team takes second

TAYLORSVILLE -- Watauga's girls' track and field team finished second in its Northwestern Conference meet held at Alexander Central on Wednesday.
The Pioneers finished with 90 points, six behind meet winner Alexander Central, which finished with 96.
Distance running carried the Pioneers. Watauga took the top three spots in the 800-meter run. Doria Kosmala was first with a time of 2:34. Lily Weeks was second with a 2:42 and Lynde Wangler was third with a 2:46. Shelby Hickernell finished fifth.
Wangler won the 3,200-run with a time of 13:51. Kosmala won the 1,600-run with a 5:31 and Madison Harman was second with a 5:35.
Belle Lehmann was second in the 100 hurdles, while Olivia Fowler was third. Fowler was third in the 300-hurdles and Olivia Handley was fourth.
