Watauga basketball teams to host South Caldwell on Monday

Watauga's basketball teams will host South Caldwell Monday in varsity only games.
Watauga's girls' team will host the Spartans at 6:30 p.m., with the boys' game beginning around 8 p.m.
It is also Senior Night for both teams. Senior Night recognitions begin at 6:15 p.m.
Watauga's boys' team is coming off a 56-50 win at Hickory on Saturday. If Watauga beats South Caldwell, the Pioneers finish the regular season at the No. 4 seed in the NWC and tie Patton for fourth place in the Northwestern Conference.
Watauga beat Patton twice during the regular season and would get a home game Tuesday in the first round of the Northwestern Conference Tournament when it would host Patton, the No. 5 seed.
Watauga's boys' team already beat South Caldwell 71-47 in Sawmills on Jan. 21.
If Watauga loses, it would be the No. 5 seed and play at No. 4 seeded Patton in the first round on Tuesday.
Watauga's girls' team is already locked into the No. 6 seed of the NWC tournament. The Pioneers will play at No. 3 seed South Caldwell on Tuesday night.
The Pioneers lost 44-26 to South Caldwell, also on Jan. 21.
In the boys' bracket, No. 1 seeded Freedom hosts No. 8 South Caldwell. No. 2 seeded Hickory hosts No. 7 Hibriten and No. 3 seeded Fred T. Foard hosts No. 6 seeded St. Stephens.
In the girls' bracket, No. 1 seeded Hickory hosts No. 8 seeded Fred T. Foard and No. 4 seeded St. Stephens hosts No. 5 seeded Patton.
In the other bracket, No. 2 seeded Freedom hosts No. 7 Hibriten and No. 3 South Caldwell hosts No. 6 Watauga.
All of the first round games are on campus sites. The semifinals are Thursday at Freedom, and the finals are Friday at Freedom.
