Watauga athletic events cancelled

The recent storm that has hit the High County has forced the Watauga High athletic department to rearrainge different schedules.
Watauga's girls' soccer team's game against Wilkes Central Monday at 7 p.m., in the Freedom Invitational tournament was moved to Tuesday. The other two games were moved to Wednesday and Thursday.
The Watauga softball game scheduled at Wilkes
Central was also postponed. The game was rescheduled for March 10. The junior varsity will play at
4:30 p.m., and the varsity game starts at 6:30 p.m.
Ashe County High School's Winter Sports Awards banquet was also cancelled.
The early release of Watauga County Schools also means that all middle school athletics have been cancelled, according to middle school athletic director Jim Godwin.
A new date for the event will be announced later, according to Ashe athletic director Marc Payne.
The event was cancelled because of the early dismissal at Ashe County High School. The students are to be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., because of inclement weather.
