Watauga 12-under softball team sweeps Ashe

The Watauga Lightning, an under-12 softball team, beat the Ashe Adrenaline 9-1 and 12-2 in two games played in the Will Dicus Memorial Tournament Saturday at Watauga High School.
Branan Cobb was the winning pitcher for the Lightning in the first game, and Jada Wilson picked up the win on the mound in the second game.
The Lightning, a travel team made up of girls from Watauga County and Mountain City, Tenn., are coached by Tracy Stillwell.
The Adrenaline is likely to be the team that represents Ashe County in the District No. 2 Tar Heel League in the state tournament in Shelby on July, 17.
UNDER 10 SOFTBALL
The Watauga All-Stars under-10 softball team beat the Ashe County All-Stars in two games played in the Will Dicus Memorial Tournament Saturday at Watauga High School.
Watauga won the first game 4-1 and the second game 4-2. Watauga's Katie Thompson picked up the win on the mound in both games, while Malia Bentley was credited with a save in both games.
The Watauga team is coached by Darryl Eggers, Denise Presnell, Chris Hayes and Richard Butler.
