WST has swimmers ranked in state top 10

Four swimmers from the Watauga Swim Team were ranked in the top 10 in the state in their age group as posted on http://www.ncswim.org , the web site for North Carolina Swimming. The listings are of times swum so far this fall as of Oct. 28 for boys and girls ages 11-18 among the 61 teams and over 7,000 swimmers registered with North Carolina Swimming.
In the ranking of 12-year old boys, Hagen Dietrich is fifth in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 26.33 seconds, seventh in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.90, second in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 30.63, third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.27, third in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 34.21, 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:18.01 and third in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 1:06.22.
Jesse Chasteen has the top time in the state among 15-year old boys in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:05.01, which he swam in Lenoir on Oct. 3. Since then he has aged up to the 16-year old boys is ranked fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke with a 1:05.08, which he swam on Oct. 24 at The Great Pumpkin Swim Meet in Huntersville.
Jesse also is ranked 10th among 16-year old boys in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.48.
Rebecca Landry is ranked seventh in the state in the 100-yard butterfly among 16-year old girls with a time of 1:03.80.
Faye Clemens is ranked fourth in the state in the 100-yard freestyle among 18-year old girls with a time of 1:02.45 and fourth in the state in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:34.37.
The next competition for these swimmers and the rest of the 56 current members of the Watauga Swim Team is the Back To Mayberry Meet hosted by North Piedmont Aquatic Club in Pilot Mountain on Nov. 14.
