WHS volleyball team beats Foard

Watauga needed an extra game to beat Fred T. Foard 3-1 Wednesday night at Lentz-Eggers Gym.
Watauga took a quick lead by winning the first two games 25-8 and 25-17. Foard came back to win the next game 25-27, but the Pioneers claimed the fourth game 25-21.
Rebecca Hayes and Sarah Peterson each finished with 13 kills for the Pioneers. Hayes also had 10 blocks and two serving aces.
Watauga setter Whitney Dunnigan dished out 20 assists, while Sarah Combs handed out 19 assists. Defensively, Abby Hicks finished with 18 digs and Sydney Farthing had 16 digs for the Pioneers. Hicks also had two serving aces.
Watauga's junior varsity also beat Foard 25-20, 16-25, 25-20.
Callie Idol finished with nine kills, while Tayler McCune added six kills, 13 digs and two aces.
Watauga plays at Freedom on Monday.
