WHS tennis loses to Blue Devils

Watauga High School lost its third tennis match in a row Monday night to Mooresville 5-3.

The Blue Devils won four consecutive matches in singles play at Mooresville after junior Landon Taylor of the Pioneers picked up a win at No. 1 by defeating Spencer Llewellyn, 7-6, 4-6, 1-0.

Josh Lamkins stopped the run with a win at No. 6 singles. He defeated Nic Bertucci of the Blue Devils, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0.


Mooresville put the match away as Derek White and Bertucci defeated Noah Moomaw and Will Spinetto 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Dristen Trate and Caleb Gould teamed up for a win at No. 2 doubles. They defeated Jacob Stechly and Brady Sowers, 8-4.

WHS has had eight matches this season.


The Pioneers played Alexander Central Tuesday at the WHS tennis courts. Those results were not available at presstime.
