WHS girls' lacrosse team falls 11-10

Watauga's girls' lacrosse team nearly overcome a three-point halftime deficit, but fell to the Asheville Girls Lacrosse team 11-10 at Leigh Cooper Wallace Field Saturday.
Asheville Girls Lacrosse is a club team.
Watauga fell behind 7-4 at halftime, but nearly came back despite not playing a lot of experienced players. Instead, Watauga coach Holly Quick used the game to get some of her younger players some experience for upcoming conference games.
It nearly produced a victory. A pair of sophomores -- Cami Hastings, Molly Gilleskie and freshman Elizabeth Vilas each scored two goals for the Pioneers.
Three other freshman -- Rozie Topper, Bishop Grit and Alyssa Perez -- each scored a goal. Sophomore Katelyn Nguyen also scored a goal.
Meghan Bisignani had nine saves in the fist half, and Sarah Williams had five saves in the second half in goal for the Pioneers.
