WHS girls falls to Foard

by Steve Behr Sports Editor

NEWTON — Watauga's girls' basketball team could not keep up with an athletic Fred T. Foard team and fell 55-37 Friday night.

Four of Foard's players scored in double figures against the Pioneers, who struggled offensively for most of the night. Hannah Margolis finished with 14 points with the help of making 6-of-8 from the foul line.

Point guard Haleigh Wallace added eight points and Whitney Dunnigan finished with six. But it was nearly enough to keep up with the Tigers, who outscored Watauga 23-7 in the second quarter and led 36-17 by halftime.

Foard forward Brooke Robinson led all scorers with 18 points. Chelsea Turner added 11 points, while Kayla Whitworth and Hannah Skeen each scored 10.
