WHS boys' tennis team pounds Foard

Watauga's boys' tennis team stayed unbeaten in the Northwestern Conference with a dominating 8-0 victory over Fred T. Foard Tuesday at Watauga's courts.
Watauga improved to 8-2 overall, 5-2 in the NWC. All of Watauga's singles players won in straight sets. No. 1-seeded Landon Taylor, No. 3-seeded Caleb Gould, No. 5-seeded Brody O'Neal and No. 6-seeded Josh Lampkins all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Watauga's Will Spinetto beat Rohman Clark 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. The Pioneers' No. 2 singles player Dristen Trate had the toughest match, but claimed a 7-6, 6-4 victory over Russell Michaels.
Taylor teamed with Daniel Lampkins to beat Jacob Stinson and Clark 8-2 in No. 1 doubles. O'Neal and Phillip Bransford beat Emanuel Lee and Devin Reinhardt 8-4 at No. 3 doubles.
No. 2 doubles was not played.
Watauga also won a pair of exhibition games. Blake Howser beat Trey Bridges 8-0, and Clay Burchell beat Ian Washer 8-2. Zach Archer won his match 8-3.
Watauga is scheduled to host Freedom on Thursday.
