WHS boys' junior varsity beats Wilkes Central

Watauga’s junior varsity shot out to a fast lead and never looked back in its 46-22 win over Wilkes Central at Lentz-Eggers Gym Friday.
The Pioneers (4-0), which won their 28th straight game, scored the first 12 points of the game, six of them by Levi Wilcox. The Pioneers never led Wilkes Central get closer than seven points the rest of the game.
Watauga continued to stretch its lead to 24-9 by halftime and 35-18 by the end of the third quarter.
Michael Ebaugh led the Pioneers with 11 points, while Caleb Bryson added nine, including Watauga’s lone 3-point shot.

Watauga’s junior varsity basketball team fell 33-25 to Wilkes Central Tuesday at Lentz-Eggers Gym.
Wilkes Central outscored Watauga 14-6 in the second quarter to pull away to a 21-10 halftime lead. Heaven Walker led Wilkes Central with 10 points.
Watauga, which made just 1-of-10 free throws, got eight points from Ryan Loflin. Brooklin Carroll scored seven points, while Mary Seramur added four points.
Watauga tried to close the gap in the fourth quarter when the Pioneers closed to 29-23. The Pioneers forced two Wilkes Central turnovers, but could not convert either into points. Wilkes Central regrouped and scored to take a 31-23 lead with 34 seconds left.
