WHS baseball team faces tough schedule
by Steve Behr Sports Editor
Watauga's baseball team can't say it won't be tested by good teams in 2013. The Pioneers' schedule is as tough as it's ever been.
Watauga plays some of the traditionally strongest programs in the state this spring. Watauga has two games scheduled against A.C. Reynolds, Mount Tabor, North Davidson and single games at Ardrey Kell and a home game against Providence.
The Pioneers also play two games against Northwestern Conference rivals South Caldwell, Alexander Central and Hickory.
Watauga plays its first three games, and four of its first five, on the road. The Pioneers open at A.C. Reynolds on Feb. 27, and host the Rockets on April 20. Watauga plays at Mount Tabor on Feb. 28 and hosts the Spartans on March 16. The Pioneers finish their three-game road trip March 2 at Ardrey Kell.
After a home game against NWC foe Fred T. Foard on March 5, the Pioneers play at North Davidson one day later. Watauga also hosts North Davidson on April 10.
Watauga plays at Davie County on March 12, and hosts Providence on March 23.
The Pioneers host arch-rival South Caldwell on March 19, and play at South on April 19. Watauga plays at Alexander Central on March 15 and hosts the Cougars on April 16.
