UPDATE: Kostis reaches semifinals of state meet

GREENSBORO -- Watauga's Demetreus Kostis won his first two matches in the state 4-A wrestling championships at the Greensboro Coliseum.
Kostis, wrestling in the 132-pound weight class, improved his record to 52-1 Friday morning with a 9-3 victory over Joe Mondragon of Wilmington Ashley.
It was the second victory for Kostis this tournament. He won his first match -- a 15-2 victory over David Losada of Raleigh Sanderson -- on Thursday.
Kostis faces Kollin Wade of Cary, who overwhelmed Tyler Gonzalez of Overhills 17-2, next. Wade, the top seed from the mideast bracket, received a forfeit win from Morris Andujar of Concord Robinson in the first round.
Gonzalez beat David Crumby from Southeast Guilford 8-3.
