UMKC backs out of game with App State
by Staff Reports
Appalachian State men's basketball head coach Jason Capel announced a change to his team's schedule for the upcoming 2013-14 season.
The Mountaineers, who were originally slated to play 15 home games, will now play 14 at the Holmes Center after University of Missouri at Kansas City informed Appalachian State that it would not fulfill the back end of a home-and-home agreement between the schools. Appalachian downed UMKC, 81-71, last season in Kansas City in what was supposed to be the first game of a two-game series.
"Obviously we are disappointed that we will be playing one less game at home this season," Capel said. "We tried extremely hard to schedule another Division I opponent to replace UMKC, but at such a late stage the task proved impossible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause our fans, but we thank them ahead of time for their support of the 2013-14 Mountaineers."
As an adjustment, the Appalachian State vs. Milligan contest has been moved to Dec. 21 and is slated for a 2 p.m. start time.
