Stalling wins shot put for ASU

HIGH POINT — Appalachian State thrower Jared Stalling won the shot put and took second in the discus in the High Point VertKlasse Meeting Saturday.
Stalling won the shot put with a toss of 54-3 ¼ feet. He was second in the discus with a toss of 173-0 feet, which broke his personal record of 171-5. It was just six inches off the school record.
Appalachian State also got a second place finish from Raphael Rojas in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:51.73. Richard Bell took sixth in the discus and eighth in the shot put. John Leonard was sixth in the discus.
In the women’s meet, Jasmine Suydam won the discus with a toss of 135-4. Ana Deleon was fourth, while Jocelyn Parnell was sixth.
Suydam was also third in the shot put. Breahna Morrison was fifth in the 100-meter dash.
Kayla Schneider was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a personal beat time of 11:11.16. Caitlyn Colo was eighth.
Appalachian State hosts the Beaches vs. Mountains meet Saturday. Appalachian State and Western Carolina team up to face East Carolina and UNC Wilmington.
