SoCon honors ASU's Jackson

Appalachian State quarterback Jamal Jackson was named the Southern Conference’s football athlete of the month for September.
Jackson is first in the SoCon, and eighth nationally, in total offense with 1,510 yards. He also leads the SoCon in passing with 1,277 yards and has eight touchdown passes against four interceptions.
Jackson also has thrown for more than 200 yards in four out of the Mountaineers’ five games this season, including a 300-yard game against East Carolina in the season opener.
He is the 13th 3,000-yard passer in Appalachian State history in just 11 starts. He was also the league’s Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 following the Mountaineers’ 35-27 victory over Montana.
