RALEIGH — Watauga’s Meredith Smith saw her season come to an end at the state 4-A girls’ individual championships Friday.

Smith fell 6-0, 6-0 to Maggie Kane of Raleigh Broughton at the Millbrook Exchange Park. Kane went on to beat Hannah Templeton of Greensboro Page 0-6, 6-4 (10-7).

Kane went on to reach the finals with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Hollie Champion from Matthews Butler. Kane will face defending 4-A champion Chloe Willetts of R.J. Reynolds. Kane is a doubles champion in 2010 with her sister Katie. The pair were the 4-A runner-up last year.
