Parkway girls beat Cove Creek 29-28

Brielle McKinney led all scorers with 12 points for Parkway. The Patriots held off a late Valle Crucis rally after the Cougars missed their final four shots of the game.
Parkway won 17 straight games last season en route to winning the regular season and middle school tournament championships.
Parkway boys’ team fell 45-37 to Valle Crucis the same day. Parkway fell behind early, but rallied to within one point after Alex Marinakis hit a 3-point shot early in the fourth quarter.
Valle Crucis pulled away with back-to-back layups by Jeremy Ringer and Byers Carney, which ended Parkway’s rally.
Parkway takes on Green Valley, which is fresh off a 35-18 victory over Blowing Rock. The teams play at Parkway on Monday.
The Eagles beat visiting Blowing Rock on Nov. 15. Green Valley shot out to a 13-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Green Valley’s size advantage produced several offensive rebounds, especially in the first quarter, which helped the Eagles take an early lead.
Green Valley took a 27-8 halftime lead and never looked back. Case Taylor led the Eagles with 12 points.
On Nov. 13, Cove Creek beat Mabel 35-32, while the Cove Creek girls beat Mabel 18-16. Mabel plays at Blowing Rock Monday, while Cove Creek hosts Bethel. Valle Crucis plays at Hardin Park, also on Monday.
