Londry-Jackson named preseason Offensive Player of the Year

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State quarterback Jamal Londry-Jackson was named the Southern Conference preseason Player of the Year by the league's coaches Monday.
Londry-Jackson, a senior, is on the Walter Payton Award watch list. He led the SoCon and was 10th in the nation in total offense by averaging 300.5 yards per game.
Londry-Jackson was one of four Mountaineers on the first-team offense. Receivers Sean Price and Anthony Peacock and offensive tackle Kendall Lamm were also named to the first team.
Tony Washington was also named first team kick returner.
Ronald Blair, a junior defensive end, was named to the first team. He was the only Mountaineer on the defensive side.
Appalachian State had just two players named to the second team. Cornerback Joel Ross and kicker Drew Stewart were named to the second team.
Samford defensive back Jaquiski Tartt and Chattanooga defensive lineman Davis Trull were preseason co-Defensive Players of the Year.
