Limestone sweeps Lees-McRae basketball teams

BANNER ELK -- Limestone shot 75 percent from the field in the second half of its 95-84 victory over Lees-McRae at Williams Gym Monday night.

Three Limestone players scored at least 20 points, including Josh Odem, who led the Saints with 24 points.

Lees-McRae (6-14, 1-9 Conference Carolinas) led 43-41 at halftime after both teams hit six 3-pointers in the first half. Lees-McRae fell behind by as many as 14 points with 2:11 left in the game and would not be able to catch up.

Jamal McNeill scored 23 points and P.J. Foster added 20 for Limestone (14-6, 6-4), which shot 59.9 percent from the field for the game.

Lees-McRae got 20 points from Raul Tutton, 17 points from Jacquise Moore and 12 from Mike Chambers.

Lees-McRae hosts Warren Wilson in a nonconference game at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

 

Limestone women 70, Lees-McRae 55

BANNER ELK -- Limestone took an early lead and didn't look back in its 70-55 victory over Lees-McRae in Conference Carolinas women's basketball action Monday at Williams Gym.

Limestone (14-5, 9-2 CC) took a 22-9 lead in the first half and never looked back in its win over Lees-McRae (9-11, 6-5), which lost at home for the first time. Lees-McRae pulled to within 11 points, but trailed by 17 by halftime.

Limestone led by 21 in the second half.

Alyssa Munson led the Bobcats in scoring with 20 points. Lauren Lewis added 17 points, while Kerri Belcher pulled down six rebounds. Lees-McRae shot just 34.1 percent from the field in the game.

Jasmine Kearse led Limestone with 17 points.

Lees-McRae hosts Converse College at 5:30 Thursday at Williams Gym.
