Jones hires two assistants

Appalachian State head baseball coach has hired two assistant coaches, according to multiple Internet outlets.

PerfectGame.org reported that Jones will retain Chris Moore from the previous staff, and will add Michael Rogers to be the pitching coach.

Moore primarily coached infielders and played a large role in recruiting for Chris Pollard, the previous ASU coach who left the program to take over at Duke. Moore was the team's third-base coach. He enters his third year in the program.

Rogers, a New Jersey native, ran the Michael Rogers Baseball Academy in Bordentown, N.J. He was a starting pitcher at North Carolina State from 2001-04, and was an All-American in two of those seasons.

Rogers played four years in the Oakland Athletics' organization after be selected with the 49th overall pick in 2004.

He is from Hamilton, N.J.
