Hough sweeps Watauga volleyball

MOORESVILLE — Watauga’s run through the state 4-A volleyball tournament ended in the third round Thursday with a 3-0 loss to Hough.

The visiting Pioneers lost to Hough 25-18, 25-9 and 25-17. Watauga finished with a 17-12 record.

Watauga’s offense struggled against Hough, which is 34-2 overall. Rebecca Hayes led the Pioneers’ offense with seven kills and two blocks. Channing Hagaman added six kills and seven digs, while Sarah Petersen had four kills. Watauga’s libero Ashlyn Van Dyke added eight digs defensively, and setter Sarah Combs dished out 19 assists.
