Hickory's volleyball team beats Pioneers 3-2

Watauga's volleyball team fell to Hickory 3-2 at Lentz-Eggers Gym Monday night.
The Pioneers looked ready to sweep the Red Tornadoes after winning the first games 25-19 and 26-24. But Hickory stormed back to win the next three 25-13, 25-15 and 15-11.
Sarah Petersen led the Pioneers with 17 kills. Meredith Farthing had 14 kills and 34 digs on defense, while Kiersten McClannon added 27 digs and two serving aces.
Rebecca Hayes finished with 10 kills and seven blocks, while setter Savannah Rusher had 26 assists. Sarah Combs added 20 assists.
Watauga plays at South Caldwell on Wednesday.
