Hardin Park sweeps Valle Crucis, Blowing Rock

VALLE CRUCIS — Hardin Park completed a sweep of Blowing Rock and Valle Crucis in a trimatch played at Valle Crucis Middle School Wednesday night.
Hardin Park beat Blowing Rock 25-9, 25-20, and beat Valle Crucis 25-12, 25-20. Valle Crucis closed out the trimatch with a 25-16, 25-16 win over Blowing Rock.
In other matches, Green Valley swept Mabel 25-4, 25-8, while Mabel beat Bethel 25-23, 25-21. Green Valley also beat Bethel 25-11, 25-13, and Parkway swept Cove Creek 25-21, 25-20.
Valle Crucis broke open a close game 1 against Blowing Rock when Olivia Williamson served 12 straight points to give the Cougars a 19-6 lead. Williamson four aces during the run, and Blowing Rock did not return four other serves over the net.
Blowing Rock started to rally late in he game by five straight points to pull to 20-12. The Rockets brought the score to 22-16, but could get no closer.
Blowing Rock held a 9-8 lead in the second game, but Valle Crucis rallied to go in front 18-13. Valle Crucis increased that lead to 24-14 before winning the set.
Hardin Park took a 15-5 lead on Blowing Rock in the first game of their match and never looked back. The second game was much closer. Blowing Rock trailed 13-9, but scored three straight points to pull to 13-12.
Hardin Park eventually took a 21-17 advantage, but Blowing Rock rallied again. This time, the Rockets pulled to 22-20.
Hardin Park scored the final three points of the set and claimed the victory.
