Hardin Park sweeps Green Valley

Hardin Park's girls' basketball team took a big lead in the first quarter and never looked back in its 48-11 victory over visiting Green Valley in middle school basketball Monday.

In other girls' basketball games, Bethel beat Mabel 26-16, Blowing Rock beat Parkway 27-6 and Valle Crucis beat Cove Creek 23-11.

Hardin Park shot out to a 17-2 lead in the first quarter before Green Valley closed out the quarter with two baskets from Taylor Walker.

Hardin Park's defense set up several baskets in the second quarter when the Eagles outscored Green Valley 16-0 to take a commanding 33-6 lead at halftime.

Madie Darner led Hardin Park in scoring with 17 points. Maddisen Robinson and Kayle Cottom each scored eight points, Cailey Haas scored seven points and Makenzie Robinson scored six.

Riley Hodge scored five points, including a 3-pointer, for Green Valley. Walker had four and Chloe Walczak scored two for Green Valley.

 

HARDIN PARK BOYS WIN

Hardin Park's boys' team scored 20 points in the second quarter and pulled away to claim a 58-17 victory over visiting Green Valley Monday.

The Eagles led 6-2 at the end of the first quarter. They started to pull away by opening the second quarter with an 8-0 run to claim a 14-2 lead.

Green Valley pulled to a 16-6 score, but Hardin Park closed out the quarter with a 10-0 run to take a 26-6 lead into halftime.

Braxton Moffett led the Eagles in scoring with 17 points. Zack West scored 12 points and David Gailes scored nine and Parker Morgan added seven for the Eagles. Hardin Park made 22 shots from the field in the game.

Erik Abbott scored four points for Green Valley and Damon Moretz scored three. Jacob Ruppert, Will Hall and Chris Harrison each scored two for Green Valley.

In other boys' games, Mabel beat Bethel 57-16, Parkway beat Blowing Rock 45-16 and Valle Crucis beat Cove Creek 35-16.
