Hardin Park, Parkway to meet in girls' final

Hardin Park’s girls’ basketball team opened up a close game with a big second half in a 33-25 victory over Bethel in the semifinals of the middle school tournament at Lentz-Eggers Gym Monday.
The Eagles play Parkway at 5:30 p.m., in the finals Thursday at Lentz-Eggers Gym.
Bethel (11-5) took a 14-12 halftime lead after outscoring the Eagles 7-4 in the first quarter. Bethel, after falling behind 10-7 in the second quarter, went on a 7-0 run capped by a steal and basket, and then a foul shot on the next possession by Athena Millsaps.
Hardin Park (15-1) took over in the third quarter by outscoring Bethel 10-4 in the third quarter and 11-7 in the fourth. Alli Brown led the Eagles with nine points, while Maddie Darner added eight. Katherine Stapleton scored seven points.
Millsaps led all scorers with 10 points, while Chelsea Adams scored seven. Sarah Arnette added six for Bethel.

PARKWAY 26, VALLE CRUCIS 22
Parkway rallied from an early deficit to claim a 26-22 victory over Valle Crucis in the other semifinal tournament game at Lentz-Eggers Gym on Monday.
Valle Crucis (8-8) led 7-2 at the end of the first quarter and 13-12 at halftime. Parkway outscored Valle Crucis 6-3 in the third quarter and 8-6 in the fourth to capture the victory.
Parkway (15-1), which is defending its tournament championship it won last season, got eight points from point guard Jasmine McKinney.
 The rest of the Patriots’ scoring was balanced as Alden McCune scored six points, while Cassidy Hubbard, Brooke Chiarolanzio and Brielle McKinney each scored four points.
Valle Crucis forward Olivia Williamson led all scorers with 10 points. Katie Hamrick scored seven and Karson Hamrick scored five for the Cougars.
