Hardee to coach Region 7 team
by Staff Reports
Watauga baseball coach Pete Hardee was named the Region 7 All-Star team head coach.
It is the first time Hardee was named to the post. He has served in the past as an assistant.
Hardee will be assisted by Robert Little of Lake Norman and Terry Johnson of Wilkes Central. The state baseball games will be played in Charlotte on June 19-23. The round-robin competition will be played at UNC Charlotte and at Hopewell High School.
The format of the games changes this year. Instead of an East-West Series, there will be a North Carolina-South Carolina Showcase added to the schedule.
Watauga does not have any players on any of the state games rosters. Watauga centerfielder Tyler Jones played for Region 7 last season.
Lillie Brady and Hannah Younger represented Watauga last season, but will not play this year in the state soccer games, which are at Wingate University June 22-23. Wingate University is located in the Union County town of Wingate, which is seven miles east of Monroe.
