Former ASU guard collapses on court
Former Appalachian State basketball player Omar Carter is in a medically induced coma after suffering a heart attack in a pro-am game in Charlotte Tuesday night, according to a media report.
WRAL-TV in Raleigh reported that according to Carter's agent, the former ASU player is "doing better" after collapsing during a game Tuesday.
Carter, 25, led the Mountaineers in scoring his final two seasons with the team. He averaged 11.7 points per game in his senior season in 2011-12, and 16.3 points per game in his junior season in 2011-12.
Carter played this past season for Limeira, Brazil, where he averaged 11.8 points per game in 30 games.
Carter, a Charlotte native, was the Big South Freshman of the Year before transferring to Appalachian State. He attended Charlotte Christian High School.
