Enka rolls to 5-1 victory over Pioneers

Watauga scored just once in its 5-1 loss to Enka Monday night at Jack Groce Stadium. It's not like the Pioneers didn't try to put the ball in the back of the net.
Watauga outshot Enka 23-14, but scored just the one goal. Hannah Younger scored that goal with an assist from Tristin Derrick.
That goal pulled Watauga to within 4-1. Enka took a 4-0 lead by scoring all four of its games in the first half.
Watauga (8-6-3), after winning five straight, has lost its last two games and has been outscored 7-2 in those games. The Pioneers play at Fred T. Foard, a team the Pioneers beat 3-2 on April 24. That win capped Watauga's five-game winning streak.
Enka improved to 13-4-0. Enka has won six of its last seven games.
Watauga's junior varsity team won its game 2-1 over Enka. Emily Goodnight scored Watauga's first goal with an assist from Megan Gotfried. Jenny Schlenker scored Watauga's second goal in the game's 56th minute to put the Pioneers in front 2-0.
Enka scored with five minutes left in the game.
