Drummonds ties for fifth at indoor finals

Watauga’s girls’ indoor track team brought several athletes to the state finals Saturday, but struggled to score points.
The Pioneers finished with 3.5 points, which were scored by Taylor Drummonds in the high jump. Drummonds finished in a tie for fifth place with a vault of 10-feet.
Drummonds also ran in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles where her time of 8.84 seconds put her 14th in the field. The top eight qualify for the finals.
Several other Pioneers participated in the event. Doria Kosmala was 11th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:13.66.
Kosmala teamed with Madison Harman, Kaitlyn Herman and Lilly Weeks to finish 10th in the 3,200-relay with a time of 10:23.34.
On the boys’ side, Brian Brackney finished 15th in the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:46.70. Josh Anderson was 20th in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:49.04. Watauga’s 3,200-meter relay team consisting of Brackney, Anderson, Ryan Hellenbrand and Michael Holland was ninth with a time of 8:27.21.
