Deacons suspend six players for today's game

WINSTON-SALEM – Wake Forest head football coach Jim Grobe announced today that six Wake Forest football players have been suspended for Saturday’s game at Maryland for a violation of team rules.
The six include cornerback Merrill Noel, safety Daniel Mack, linebacker Mike Olson, guard Frank Souza, running back Deandre Martin and wide receiver Airyn Willis.
The six will miss Wake Forest’s game at Maryland on Oct. 6. All will be eligible to be reinstated prior to the Deacons’ game at Virginia on Oct. 20.
“I’m disappointed that some of our kids made poor decisions,” Grobe said. “These are good kids who just need to learn from their mistakes.”
