CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - A hurt and banged-up Appalachian State wrestling team lost 35-8 to Chattanooga Sunday at Maclellan Gym.
Facing the 20th ranked Mocs without four injured starters, Appalachian was able to come up with wins in only two matches. Starting the match at the 184-pound weight class, the Mountaineers lost their first three matches until picking up a win from Vito Pasone at the 125-pound weight class.
Pasone, who finished second at the Appalachian Open, picked up his second tech-fall in two weeks when he beat Chattanooga's Campbell Lewis 18-2.
Appalachian won its other match at 141 pounds. Jake Smith took a 3-2 win over Mike Pongracz.
The Mountaineers expect to be back to full strength when they return home Feb. 7 to face SoCon foe VMI in Varsity Gym. The match begins at 7 p.m.
