Chasteen scores hat trick for Pioneers

by Staff Reports

GAMEWELL -- Tucker Chasteen scored a hat trick, and got help from a goal from Justin Hall to lift visiting Watauga to a 4-2 victory over West Caldwell in boys' soccer Monday night.
Chasteen has scored nine goals this season for the unbeaten Pioneers, who improved to 4-0 this season. All of Chasteen's goals were scored during a 15-minute period in the second half.
"He's just good," Pioneers coach Woody McKay said "He's always been good. This year, he's playing with guys who release the ball and he's big enough and skilled enough to get the shot in."
Hall scored the first Watauga goal off a long punt by Pioneers goalkeeper Jake Chasteen. Hall worked the ball past a West Caldwell defender and scored to give the Pioneers a 1-0 lead.
Chasteen scored the first of his goals off a throw-in by Cam Linville. Chasteen struck against after Hall and Logan Raichle started a string of passes that Chasteen was able to turn into a goal and a 3-1 lead.
Linville picked up the assist on Chasteen's third goal.
One of Watauga's starters, Nick Kellner, broke his collarbone on a hard tackle during the physical game. Watauga also had to deal with a field that was narrow and had long grass.
