by Staff Reports

BUIES CREEK — Appalachian State’s offense played well against Campbell Friday night. The Mountaineers just couldn’t keep up with Campbell’s offense.

It was more than the Mountaineers (1-2) could match. Appalachian State shot a respectable 45.9 percent from the field for the game, but fell behind 55-39 by halftime. The Camels took advantage of 11 first-half Appalachian State turnovers in taking its lead.

Campbell took a commanding 40-25 lead in the first half after going on a 14-3 run. White put the Camels in front 62-41 with a jump shot with just over 18 minutes left in the game.

Appalachian State never got closer 13 points the rest of the game.

White scored 28 of his points in the second half.

Campbell scored 23 fast-break points, and 54 points in the paint. Three Mountaineers — Nate Healy, Tab Hamilton and Tevin Baskin — scored 18 points. Baskin made 7-of-15 from the field, and also pulled down seven rebounds.
