Browns put Edwards on injured reserve
by Staff Reports
The Sports Network is reporting that the Cleveland Browns have put former Appalachian State quarterback Armanti Edwards on injured reserve with an ankle injury.
Edwards caught one pass for 10 yards in two games in Cleveland this season. He also returned four punts for 28 yards.
The Browns signed receiver Josh Cooper from their practice squad to replace Edwards, who was released by the Carolina Panthers after playing with the team for over three seasons. He signed with the Browns on Oct. 30.
The Browns also signed receiver Reggie Dunn to their practice squad.
Edwards was a two-time Walter Payton Award winner at Appalachian State. He also led the Mountaineers to two Football Championship Subdivision national championships.
He was drafted by the Panthers in the third round of the 2010 draft. He converted to wide receiver, but was mostly used returning punts and kickoffs by the team.
