Appalachian State freshman cornerback Dante Blackmon is out for the season because of a knee injury, the team announced Thursday.
Blackmon injured his right knee during a non-contact drill Sunday. He did not play in the team’s first scrimmage Wednesday.
A 5-foot-10, 185-pound corner, Blackmon is a three-star recruit, according to rivals.com. He was working with the first team at the beginning of fall workouts.
Blackmon is from Covington, Ga., where he played at Eastside High School. He will redshirt this fall, and it is hoped that he’ll be ready to participate in spring drills. Blackmon is expected to be healthy for the 2013 season.
