Bishop-McGuinness beats WHS girls' lacrosse team 14-6

Watauga's girls' lacrosse fell 14-6 to Bishop-McGuinness on a chilly Wednesday night at Leigh Cooper-Wallace Field.
Elle Sloboda scored five of the Pioneers' six goals. She scored two goals for Watauga in the first half, but Bishop-McGuinness claimed a 9-2 halftime lead. Bishop-McGuinness rushed out to an 8-1 lead before Sloboda scored her second goal.
Bishop-McGuinness scored the first five goals of the second half to put the game away for good. The Villains scored three goals in the first three minutes, and scored another five minutes later.
Both teams slowed their offenses down by working to get close to each other's goals, but neither team could score until Bishop-McGuiness scored with 9:21 left to take a 14-2 lead.
That was when Sloboda was able to get close enough to the Villains' goal to score twice to pull Watauga to 14-4.
Gabby Knight scored the next goal on a Sloboda assist, and Sloboda scored the final goal of the game with 1:50 left to pull Watauga to within 14-6.
Several players scored goals for Bishop-McGuinness. Adaire Hudson scored three goals, while Anna Petrangeli, Jill Lindquist, Anne LaMuraglia and Maria Rogaski each scored two goals for the Villains.
Watauga hosts R.J. Reynolds Thursday night at Leigh Cooper-Wallace.
