Bethel beats Parkway in three sets

Bethel needed three sets to beat visiting Parkway 2-1 in middle school volleyball Monday afternoon.
Parkway won the first set 19-25, but Bethel rallied to claim a 25-19 win in the second set. The Beavers captured a 15-12 victory in the third set to win the match.
Bethel shot out to a 6-1 lead in the third set and held an 8-4 lead before Parkway started a slow, but effective comeback. The Patriots trailed 12-9, but scored the nest three points to tie the game 12-12.
Bethel picked up the next point after a short rally, and then took advantage of two Parkway errors to win the set and the match.
Parkway won the first game after breaking a 19-19 tie with a 6-0 run. Parkway held a 9-5 lead in the second set, but Bethel rallied to take the lead in the set 11-9. After forcing a side out to picked up a point, Bethel went in front 14-11.
Parkway would never get closer than two points the rest of the set. Bethel scored the final five points to pick up the win.
In one of two tri-matches played on Monday, Hardin Park beat Green Valley 25-12, 22-25, 17-17. Hardin Park also beat Valle Crucis 27-25 and 25-17. Green Valley beat Valle Crucis 25-19, 25-13.
Mabel beat Cove Creek 25-3, 25-10 in another tri-match. Mabel also beat Blowing Rock 25-20, 25-11. Blowing Rock beat Cove Creek 25-21, 25-11.
