Baker wins WHS Golden Helmet Award

Watauga's football program handed out awards for the 2013 season Thursday.
Wide receiver Cam Baker won the Golden Helmet Award. A senior, Baker was a two-time starter at cornerback during his sophomore and junior seasons, but was moved to receiver full time during his senior season.
He was a favorite target of quarterback Aaron Dobbins for most of the season.
The Hard Hat Award went to lineman Aaron Spencer, while the Most Improved Award went to kicker Stephen Shirley. The Top Academic Award went to lineman Jackson Carr.
Watauga also recognized eight players who had a grade point average of 3.5 or higher. They were Carr, Shirley, Stephen Miller, T.J. Poulos, Adam Goetz, Austin Northern, Zach Williams, and Jake Williams.
Watauga's all-Northwestern Conference players were also recognized. They included Baker, Shirley, Poulos, Hunter Isaac, Justin Greer, Jake Williams, Dobbins, Kenan Foxx and Dakota McCreary. Williams and Jacob Rutz were honorable mention.
