Avery falls to C.D. Owen

SWANNANOA — Owen scored 21 points in the second half and took a 21-6 victory over Avery at Warhorse Stadium Friday night.
Jager Gardner scored two 12-yard touchdown runs for the Warhorses (2-3). The first touchdown capped a 43-yard, seven-play drive in the third quarter.
Owen outgained 359-139 in total offense. The Warhorses held a decisive advantage in rushing yards, outgaining the Vikings 325-35. Garner finished with 161 yards on 20 carries, which is an average of 8.1 yards per carry.
Cole Leighton added 82 yards on 12 carries for the Warhorses, including a 7-yard touchdown run that capped an 80-yard drive. That touchdown put Owen in front 14-0.
Avery (2-3) scored its lone touchdown when Tyler Polsgrove caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Tre Jackson on a one-play drive.
Jackson completed 6-of-20 passes for 104 yards and four interceptions. He was also sacked four times.
Luke Childress led the Vikings in rushing with 42 yards on 13 carries. Avery lost two fumbles, giving them six turnovers.
Owen also struggled with taking care of the football. Quarterback Sam Drummond completed 3-of-7 passes for 34 yards and two interceptions, and Owen lost three fumbles.
