WEST JEFFERSON — Zeb Richardson of Ashe County High has been selected to play in the North Carolina/South Carolina All-Star Basketball Classic in Myrtle Beach, S.C., next month.Richardson, a post player for the state-ranked Huskies, was one of 10 selections for the team coached by Howard West of Reagan High.

Rocky Mount High's Michael Gainey is West's assistant coach.The all-star event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday nights, March 17-18, at Socastee High and Myrtle Beach High.

Friday night at Myrtle Beach High, contests for 3-point shooting and dunks will be held at 7 p.m. On Saturday at Socastee in Myrtle Beach, a girls all-star game will tip off at 6:30 followed by the boys game.

Ashe County was represented in last year's girls game by Mallary Clay.

Joining Richardson on the boys team are Braeshawun Dozier of Reagan, Joshua Smith of Charlotte Olympic, Shawn Lester of Mooresville, Kendall Knorr of Concord, Tracy Gathings of Greensboro Smith, Elon Edwards of Greenville Rose, Terrill Hilliard of Rocky Mount, Denzel Ingram of Chapel Hill and Carlton Ford of Fayetteville Westover.
