App State volleyball team hosts Aggies on Wednesday

The Mountaineers, who have not played at home since Aug. 31, host North Carolina A&T in a match beginning at 7 p.m. The Mountaineers are 3-0 at the Holmes Center after beating Loyola, Sam Houston State and Norfolk State in the Appalachian State Invitational.
App State won all three matches 3-0.
The Mountaineers (6-4) are now on the wrong end of a three-match losing streak after playing in the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas, on Sept. 13-14. They lost to Baylor 3-0, Colorado 3-2 and Northwestern State 3-0.
They return to the Holmes Center, taking on a North Carolina A&T team that has problems of its own. The Aggies (1-9) have lost five straight, and are 0-3 away from home.
They took on Charlotte on Tuesday. Results were not available at presstime.
Appalachian State has relied on the offense of Emily Corrigan and Jess Keller. Corrigan leads the team with 13 kills per game, while Keller averages 10 kills per game. Paige Brown, the team's primary setter, averages 34.4 sets per game.
North Carolina A&T is led by sophomore Brooke Stamnes, who averages 7.6 kills per match. Liz Martino is the Aggies' setter. She leads the team in assists with 169.
The Mountaineers follow their showdown with North Carolina A&T by hosting the Black & Gold Challenge on Sept. 20-21. They'll host East Carolina at 7 p.m. Friday.
