ASU's Keck named golfer of the week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State freshman Caleb Keck has been named the Southern Conference men's golfer of the week for all competition April 10-16.
Keck shot a 54-hole total of 209 at the Coca-Cola Wofford Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C., on Monday and Tuesday, posting a 69.67 stroke average to win the event. The rookie from Reidsville beat 87 other competitors for his first collegiate title.
Keck shot a career-low 5-under 67 in the opening round of the tournament and followed that up with a 2-under 70 in the second round. He capped off his tournament with an even-par 72 Tuesday for his first career top-10 finish.
As a team, the Mountaineers tied for fourth place in the 16-team field.
Appalachian State and the other 10 league teams return to action at the Southern Conference Men's Golf Championship at the Ralston Creek Course in Daniel Island, S.C., on April 21-23.
