ASU wrestling team picked to finish second

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State's wrestling team was picked to finish second in the Southern Conference according to the annual conference coaches' poll released Thursday.
The Mountaineers, who finished second last season during the regular season, finished just four points behind projected champion, Chattanooga, which finished with 46 points and four first-place votes. App State got 42 points and two first-place votes, including four named to the preseason all-conference team.
Rounding out the poll was The Citadel (41), which finished third, followed by Gardner-Webb (28), Campbell (27), SIUE (19), Davidson (12) and VMI (9).
Highlighting this season's Preseason all-SoCon team for the Mountaineers were Dominic Parisi at 125 pounds, Dylan Cottrell at 149 pounds, Zack Strickland at 165 pounds and Paul Weiss at 197 pounds.
The Mountaineers begin their 2013-14 schedule Nov. 10 when they host both Anderson and Cumberland College at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
