ASU women's soccer team settles for 0-0 tie

Appalachian State's women's soccer team settled for a scoreless tie with Furman in a Southern Conference showdown Sunday afternoon.
The Mountaineers (6-5-4, 3-1-4 SoCon) honored their seniors before the game. Those honored were Jordan Hatton, Jamie Lockie, Sam Neill, Sonia Sanchez, Jordan Vezina and Amy Werdine. Senior athletic trainer Hannah Daily was also honored
For the second time in as many games this weekend the Mountaineers went into two overtimes and ended the game scoreless. Megan Roberson got the start again at goalkeeper for App State and earned her second clean sheet of the weekend and third of the season. Roberson made three saves on the day.
Furman (11-3-2, 5-1-1) started Rose Hull in net. She made four saves on the day for the Paladins, including a great chance off of the foot of Lockie who rocketed a shot on goal.
The match went through its moments of the ball being dominated by both teams in the opposition's zone. Appalachian outshot Furman 15-14, and held a 4-3 advantage in shots on target.
Samantha Childress led the Mountaineers with four shots. Julia Holz and Neill followed with three shots each.
Both teams took four corner kicks, and the Mountaineers edged the Paladins in fouls 8-7.
The Mountaineers will return to action on Friday when they travel to The Citadel in Charleston, S.C.
