ASU loses baseball recruit
by Staff Reports
Appalachian State’s baseball coaching change may have just cost the Mountaineers a recruit.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reported that Asheville Christian Academy pitcher Bailey Clark committed to play at Duke. Clark verbally committed to Appalachian State in May for then-coach Chris Pollard.
Pollard was hired by Duke in June. Appalachian State hired Oklahoma State assistant Bobby Jones weeks later.
Clark, a 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed pitcher, had an ERA of 1.30 with 1.49 strikeouts per inning average. He also tossed a no-hitter against Asheville School. He pitched for the Impact Baseball Dirtbags over the summer.
