ASU loses Middleton for season
by Steve Behr Sports Editor
Appalachian State cornerback Doug Middleton will miss the rest of the 2012 season because of an ankle injury suffered in the Mountaineers’ 35-13 loss to East Carolina Saturday.
Middleton, who will apply for a medical redshirt, will have three years of eligibility left. He’s expected to return for spring practice.
He is the second cornerback to be lost to the season because of injury. True freshman Dante Blackmon, a three-star rivals.com recruit, was lost for the season during fall workouts because of a knee injury.
The other major injury an ASU player suffered against East Carolina was the hand injury that knocked running back Rod Chisholm out of the game. He underwent surgery Monday and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
