ASU kickoff with ECU set for noon

Appalachian State University's 2012 football opener at East Carolina will kick off at noon on Sept. 1 and be televised live by Fox Sports Net, Conference USA announced Thursday.
Fox will not decide until later this summer which FSN affiliates will air the Appalachian State-East Carolina season opener. The Mountaineers and Pirates also kicked off at noon in Appalachian's last visit to Greenville, N.C., a 29-24 nailbiter won by ECU in the 2009 season lid-lifter.
The Sept. 1 matchup is the 31st installment of the ASU-ECU rivalry, which the Mountaineers lead, 19-11. Tickets from Appalachian State's allotment are currently available only to ASU season-ticket holders. Should any tickets from the allotment remain, they will go on sale to the general public on Aug. 7.
